Phoenix Suns' Roster Overhaul: Key Players on the Move |
A look at current and former Suns making waves in new NBA homes |
The Phoenix Suns have undergone a significant transformation ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season, with several key players departing and new talents arriving.
Kevin Durant has been traded to the Houston Rockets in a blockbuster deal. Durant, who joined the Suns in 2023, averaged 26.6 points per game during his tenure. In exchange, Phoenix received Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and multiple draft picks, including the 10th overall selection in the 2025 draft, used to pick 7-footer Khaman Maluach.
Cam Johnson, a pivotal player in the Suns' 2021 Finals run, has been traded to the Denver Nuggets. Johnson's sharpshooting and versatility are expected to bolster Denver's championship aspirations alongside three-time MVP Nikola Jokić.
Deandre Ayton, the Suns' 2018 first overall pick, has joined the Los Angeles Lakers. After a stint with the Portland Trail Blazers, Ayton now teams up with stars Luka Dončić and LeBron James, adding depth to the Lakers' frontcourt.
Jalen Green is now part of the Suns' backcourt, pairing with Devin Booker. Green, who averaged 20.8 points over four seasons with Houston, brings playmaking skills to Phoenix. The duo's synergy will be crucial for the Suns' offensive strategy.
Ty Jerome, after a career-best season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, has signed with the Memphis Grizzlies. Jerome's improved shooting and playmaking will complement Ja Morant in Memphis' backcourt.
Bradley Beal has joined the Los Angeles Clippers following a buyout agreement with the Suns. Beal's scoring prowess adds another dimension to the Clippers' offense, alongside Kawhi Leonard and James Harden.
These moves signify a new era for the Phoenix Suns, as they reconfigure their roster to build around Devin Booker and incoming talents. Fans eagerly anticipate how these changes will impact the team's performance in the upcoming season.
